WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is geared towards students who are at least 13 and at most 17 years old.
It allows native-English speakers and other students with a sufficiant level of fluency, to discover the jewels of English-language Theatre. They will dive into the culture of “Acting in English” by exploring the works of classical and contemporary English and American playwrights.
They will be introduced to techniques and approaches used throughout the anglophone world as well as methodology developed specifically at Cours Florent by highly trained and qualified instructors.
An audition in our drama school will determine the candidate’s admission into the program.
OBJECTIVES
- Explore advanced acting techniques and group collaboration
- Develop better self-expression
- Develop research and devising skills
- Increase familiarity with English dramatic literature
- Learn how to invent, to react, to spot your objectives, and make intentional choices
- Understand the dramaturgical structure within a scene or monologue
All classes are taught by professionally trained, fully bilingual instructors.
Pre-requisites: Applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level of English, and/or bilingual aptitude.
THE PROGRAM
MODULE 1 : “Monologues and Scenes”
Students research, explore and rehearse a monologue or scene from either the classical or contemporary anglophone repertoire.
MODULE 2 : “Collective Original Piece”
Students create a group/collective work based on a main theme chosen by the instructor. The group uses research, improvisation, and imagination in order to create a piece. The use of varied artistic mediums as inspiration/source material is encouraged (drama, novels, photographs, paintings, exhibitions, music, cinema…).
An individual assessment of progress is sent to the parents at the end of each semester
