Expressing yourself on stage in English while having fun, from 4 to 12 years old !

Children learn to express themselves in English, using the tools of theatre. Through play and interaction with peers, they gain confidence and fluency, as well as learn improved social dynamics.  Budding actors practice language skills with games, songs, and short scenes.  

Bilingual teachers - The course is taught in English and French by fully bilingual instructors trained in the Cours Florent Jeunesse teaching method. 

Thanks to the specifically developed exercises, children learn to 

  • Confidently interact with others
  • Identify thoughts and impulses and articulate them clearly in English
  • Feel comfortable expressing themselves in public
  • Develop their creativity
  • Increase their capacity of concentration
  • Master their emotions

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Children ages 4 – 12, regardless of their level of fluency in English or French.

Children have a remarkable ability to learn languages quickly, to remember new vocabulary, expressions, and idioms. Unlike adults who may be afraid of making mistakes, little ones often have no inhibitions about trying things out. This is why Cours Florent considers children as young as 4 ideal candidates for this course.  The plasticity of the brain at this age makes it easier to learn the sounds and structures of a new language. In full-immersion environments, children naturally absorb the language around them.

Note: Children are not required to be bilingual to take part! Our teachers adapt to the students' level of understanding. They can switch from English to French if necessary.

THE PROGRAM

Several modules are scheduled throughout the year.  

Designed by the Cours Florent Jeunesse teaching staff, and utilizing proven teaching methodologies, they enable children to progress at their own pace.  

From ages 4 to 6

Introduction to theatre games, techniques, and tools. Basic acting exploration through work with emotions and impulses. 

Guided creation/visualization inspired by various media (music, nursery rhymes, stories, theatrical texts adapted to the age of the children). Memorization games and stagecraft leading to creation of small scenes on stage.

FROM AGES 7 to 12

Basic storytelling techniques to perform short narratives or poetry, individually and as an ensemble.

Working from posters (advertising, cinema, theatre), students learn image analysis, imagination, and narrative structure creation. Creation of an original theatrical story, and slogan. Presentation of scenes inspired by the chosen media. 

Students choose, memorize, and explore a scene from the contemporary young audience theatre repertoire. Rehearsal and public presentation of the work

Open Classes

Each module ends with a class open to parents : an opportunity to see the progress made by our little actors!
